Cute Shoes for Tired Feet

A shoutout to my current favorite shoes of the season, my Margaux Demi flats in Woven Saddle. They are SO comfy, and the open weave is so breathable! Plus, they go with just about everything, and can hide a pedicure that’s past it’s prime.

I absolutely love how walkable Boston is. Even in the suburbs, my cute little neighborhood has a number of shops, restaurants, parks, and breweries that are all within a reasonable distance from my home. However, if you’re not wearing comfortable shoes, then living in a walkable community is pretty much pointless. I like being able to spontaneously head somewhere without wishing I had packed a change of shoes, but I also want to look pulled together and not like I’ve completely given up on fashion.

Colorful comfy sneakers are a frequent pick for me, and will probably get even more use once I start doing stroller walks to parks and daycare and to get some fresh air. When dirt and pebbles aren’t a concern though, comfy flats and sandals are also heavy in my rotation. Here are the shoes I’m currently crushing on. I generally wear a size 7 1/2 or so, and my feet are on the shorter, wider side. Sizing notes included below where applicable.

  1. Reebok Club C Grounds UK Shoes in Dusk Purple / Astro Lime / Gum ($70) – Reeboks are much more affordable than Sambas and less common too. They feel fresh right now. I can’t remember if I tried on a 7 or a 7 1/2, but something tells me I’ll be back at the Reebok outlet soon.
  2. Reebok Club C Grounds UK Shoes in AI Aqua/Sunkissed Orange/Gum ($70) – I tried these on at the Reebok outlet at Assembly Row a few months ago and I haven’t been able to get them out of my mind since.
  3. Adidas SL 72 x Liberty Sneakers in Green/ Cream White/ Gum ($105) – I love a Liberty floral print! These would also transition really well into autumn. It looks like these are close to selling out (if they haven’t already) but perhaps the second hand market (Ebay, Poshmark, RealReal, etc.) might have more options. I’ve heard Adidas run really big. I’ll have to try them on to figure out my size.
  4. Adidas SL 72 OG suede and leather-trimmed mesh sneakers in Yellow ($100) – I am not on the butter yellow train, so this creamy lemon/lime colorway is much more up my alley.
  5. Nike Waffle Debut in Soft Pearl/Aluminum/Black/Summit White ($75) – These are also available at discount shoe retailers. I only wish I had scooped up the green & pink colorway before they sold out. Most of my Nikes are a size 8.
  6. Adidas Samba OG shoes in Tactile Blue / Ice Lavender / Off White ($120) – Everytime I think I’m ready to buy some Sambas, I stumble upon another colorway that I like even better. These are a current crush.
  7. PUMA Palermo Vintage Wns Sneakers in Peach Frost/Creamy Vanilla ($80) // I love the Nantucket Red color of these sneakers! They’d look so good with jeans.
  8. Cole Haan Cloudfeel Keeton Espadrilles Flatforms in Tan Raffia-Cuoio ($150) – The women in my family love their Cole Haan sandals. The footbeds are so cushy! These look incredibly comfortable for events and occasions where I want to feel a little more dressed up. My flat Cole Haan sandals are size 7 1/2 but sometimes for heels and wedges I go down a half size.
  9. Nike LD-1000 leather and brushed suede-trimmed mesh sneakers in Blue ($100) – The light blue and brown combo just feels so timeless and classic.
  10. Boden Iris Snaffle Loafers in Pink Peony ($165) — Full disclosure…  I have not yet tried Boden’s shoes, so I can’t speak to their comfort or sizing. But I’ve heard great things about this style and am extremely tempted. I am also eyeing the leopard version of these shoes.
  11. Rothy’s Espadrille Mary Jane in Jasmine ($149) – I don’t own any Rothy’s yet but I have tried them on and found them to be quite comfortable. I love espadrille style shoes and I especially love that Rothy’s shoes are designed to be machine washable. The pointed-toe style of Rothy’s I tried on were a 7 1/2, and the sneakers were an 8, so I’d probably try a 7 1/2 for these.
  12. Birdie’s Hummingbird Mary Jane in Red Openweave ($150) – I love my Birdie’s loafers. The cushioned footbed feels just like a slipper. I’m looking for a pair of red flats and these feel like a fun (and comfortable!!) way to try out the trend toward Mary Janes and open-weave shoes. I typically take a 7 in Birdies.
  13. Margaux Demi Flat in Scarlett Nappa ($275) – Seeing as my Margaux Demis are the most worn flat in my closet, I think a classic red would be a wise investment. In Margaux flats I take a size 6 1/2 wide.
  14. Cole Haan Gayle Thong Sandals in Dutch Blue ($100) – I love an easy slip-on sandal that comes down to at least my arch area, and these look like they fit the bill, with classic Cole Haan comfort to boot. I’ve also been craving more color in my sandal game lately.
  15. Margaux Deia Sandal in Espresso Woven Leather ($315) – These sold out pretty much immediately, but there is a waitlist and I’d be shocked if they don’t do a restock before summer is over.
