As much as I’d like to “finish” our living room and office with throw pillows and window treatments over the next few months, I’m trying to take my own advice and instead prioritize purchases that will improve the function of our home and reduce pain points, rather than invest in pieces that are just about looks.
I’ve been using a simple plant stand as a nightstand for the past 10 years, and am starting to crave more storage. Our bedroom allows for sizable nightstands on both sides of the bed, so I’m leaning towards a 3-drawer dresser to use as a nightstand, as one can never have too many drawers. Unlike the rest of the house, our bedroom scheme is pretty neutral. These are the nightstands on my shortlist.

- SAFAVIEH Home Collection Galio 3 Drawer Chest – White/Gold, 31 in. W X 19 in. D X 31 in. H (MDF). $340-ish. // This is one of my top contenders right now. I’ve always loved campaign style furniture.
- ikea HEMNES 3-drawer chest, white stain; 42 1/2″ wide, 19 5/8″ deep, 37 3/4″ high (solid wood); $269 // Honestly, I think this is the best value of the bunch. Solid wood furniture is so hard to find these days and I do really like the traditional lines of the Hemnes collection. This is also a top 3 contenter for me, even though I dread the thought of an Ikea assembly project.
- Quinn Raffia 3 Drawer Table; 22in W x 23.5in H x 18in L (raffia, wood) $300 // The size is a bit smaller than I wanted, but I really love the style of this one! It reminds me of something from Serena and Lily, but you know, about $2,000 cheaper. TJ Maxx had a similar piece but it sold out quickly, so act fast. It may also be worth scoping out your local Home Goods/TJ Maxx/Marshall’s in-person. I’m definitely considering this one!
- SAFAVIEH Home Collection Mina Modern Coastal 3 Drawer 25 H Bamboo Nightstand – White; 23 in. W X 20 in. D X 25 in. H (wood). $420-ish. // This one is tough to find in the white colorway but I do really like the bamboo style legs.
- Delta Children Saint 4 Drawer Dresser with Changing Top and Interlocking Drawers – Bianca White; 36.75”W x 19.5”D x 38.25”H (Wood, Metal, MDF). $400 // Yes, this is technically a baby changing table. But the changing top part is removable. I just love the spindly bobbin legs.
- Hazel 3-Drawer Side Table – Natural; 27.3″L x 17.3″W x 27.3″H (Pine solids; Medium Density Fiberboard, and mindi veneers) $270-ish // The price of this piece varies so widely from one retailer to the next that it is borderline sketchy. Reviewers say it looks more orange in person which makes me nervous, but I do like the shape of it.
Any other dressers I should consider?
