There’s nothing like going into a new year feeling organized! I always loved the idea of having a beautiful vanity with a drawer filled with little compartments and trays keeping all of my cosmetics tidy. In reality though, my bedroom gets much better natural light than my bathroom, and I’m far more inclined to put makeup on if I’m comfortably plopped on the floor in front of my full-length mirror.

So, I decided to work with my routine instead of fighting it. My makeup used to be stored in a travel cosmetics bag near my mirror meaning that I had to dig around to find what I was looking for and everything was coated in the grime of broken eyeshadow palettes and spilled powder.

After thinking long and hard about the best solution, this jewelry tray with removable dividers ending up being the winner. The dividers are just made of cardboard coated in velvet, so I took scissors to a few sections to fully customize them to my preferred size. I love that everything is visible and organized by category (lipsticks in one compartment, eyeliner and mascara in another, etc).

I keep the tray right in front of my mirror where I get ready, but in the off chance that I thought company might pop into our room I could easily stash it on my dresser or in a bathroom drawer.
