Baby will be here in less than four months and I’m officially in nesting mode getting the nursery ready. The walls are painted, the curtains and rug have arrived, and things are starting to come together. Here is a sneak peek at the direction I’m headed.
One slightly unconventional decision that I think will work really well for our family is the plan to have both a crib and a twin bed in the room from day one, as the room is large enough to accommodate both. In the early days, the twin bed will allow parents to take shifts with baby giving the other parent some much needed rest, or to allow extra sleeping space for visiting family members (putting baby in a bassinet in the primary in those instances). During the early toddler years, I think the twin bed will be the perfect spot to cozy up and read books together. And having the bed in the room from the get-go makes me think (hope??) that the crib-to-bed transition won’t feel so daunting when that day comes (she says with all the naive optimism of a first time parent).

- Timyia Polyester Blackout Curtain Pair by Gracie Oaks // I love the print and color on these gingham curtains! The fabric quality is nothing to write home about, but this is a kids room and I’ve got 3 big windows to dress so affordability was the name of the game.
- Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue // This is the color we painted the room. It reads a bit more green than blue, depending on the light and time of day. Love it!
- National Parks Wrap and Poster by Cavallini // We bought this poster (technically a sheet of gift wrap) for under $10 on our honeymoon and currently it is hanging in the hallway. However, I think it would look so cute in the nursery and really tie everything together, so I’m hoping my husband will be game to let me move it. (And if not, buying a second poster hardly costs more than a cup of coffee.)
- Illari Hand Tufted Wool Southwestern Rug by Safavieh // The rug has arrived and I can’t wait to unroll it and get a feel for the room.
- Company Kids™ Gingham Classic Cool Organic Cotton Percale Bed Sheet Set in Moss // These are the sheets I’m leaning towards for the twin bed.
- Big Little Store Punched Name Cushion by Julie Baby Punch Club // Isn’t this personalized throw pillow the cutest thing you’ve ever seen?! I’ll definitely hold off on ordering until after the baby is born, just in case we call an audible with our name choice.
- Classic Chambray Ashen Blue Cotton Kids Twin Quilt // Also for the twin bed, I’m eyeing this simple blue chambray quilt with punchy orange embroidery.
- Baby Organic Cotton Standard Crib Sheet by Little Planet // For crib sheets, I think I’ll just keep things simple with a navy and white stripe.
