Colorful Baby Boy Nursery Reveal

Our little one arrived this summer and his room is officially my favorite room in the house. I stuck pretty closely to the ideas on my vision board, and it turned out even better than I could have hoped.

The twin bed is actually one half of a convertible bunk bed set. The pieces for the sister bed are in our basement for when the crib days are behind us. Maybe I will bunk them or maybe I will do two twins with a nightstand in between — we’ll see what the situation calls for! During the early newborn days, my husband and I have took turns sleeping in the twin bed to take care of the overnight feed, so that the other parent got an uninterrupted night of sleep and was fully rested. When baby gets a little older, I look forward to cuddling and reading bedtime stories to him on the twin bed.

My husband wasn’t comfortable with having a ceiling fan in a kids room, so this caged ceiling fan was a great compromise piece that cools the room down a bit but has a low profile and feels a bit safer without the exposed blades.

The gingham curtains make the room but be warned that they are not as blackout as advertised. To encourage baby to sleep a bit later into the morning, I ordered a layer of vinyl blackout roller shades in desperation to layer underneath. My favorite little touch though has to be his customized name pillow, which I ordered from Big Little Store after seeing designer Lonika Chande use them in a kids room.

In the next year or so we’ll probably get a dresser for the room, though this over-the-door organizer is perfect for his baby clothes and necessities and suits us just fine for now. Not pictured, we also have a nightstand in our garage right now from my husband’s childhood bedroom that we hope to freshen up with paint and hardware and bring into the nursery.

A few of the furniture pieces are no longer available and much of the artwork are family cross-stitches but I’ve linked sources for nearly everything else below.
