Socializing, making memories, and building friendships is such a rewarding practice. And yet without realizing it, more than a year had gone by since I hosted my last real party. Time to change that!
One of my husband’s friends invited him to a bagels & book swap party a few months ago and the idea had been stuck in my head ever since. So that’s what I went with! Parties don’t need themes, but I do like having a reason to gather. And getting up to browse the book table gives people something to do.
I picked a Saturday morning and texted a handful of other toddler families in my neighborhood about 2 weeks in advance. My only regret was not inviting MORE people. This was the first real test of our backyard hosting capacity so I was nervous about overextending ourselves. In the end, I think “the more, the merrier” is a safe mantra, and I look forward to hosting more backyard gatherings in the months and years to come.
What should my next gathering be?
